The Reventlow Scarab is often referred to as "The Most Beautiful Sports Racer You've Never Heard Of."

During the 1950s, American designers made several attempts to demonstrate that cars equipped with large American V8 engines could rival European brands such as Ferrari, Maserati, and Jaguar. Among these efforts, a few achieved some success, notably Briggs Cunningham. Then came Woolworth heir Lance Reventlow. Reventlow enlisted some of California's foremost Hot Rodders to design a sports racer for him, aimed at competing in professional sports car races across the United States. Their collaboration culminated in the creation of the Reventlow Scarab sports racer."

Reventlow had three cars constructed; one for his personal use and two for several other drivers to operate. Chuck Daigh, Augie Pabst, and Harry Heuer were the principal drivers. The Reventlow Scarab achieved numerous victories in the late 1950s and early 1960s and continues to compete in Vintage Races throughout the United States today.
