The Toccoa River has a course that begins in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains near Suches and spans for around 60 miles, passing through the Blue Ridge Mountains until it crosses the Georgia-Tennessee state line at McCaysville in Fannin County. The Blue Ridge Scenic Railway has been running for over a century, offering rail tours from the town of Blue Ridge in Georgia to McCaysville and Copper Hill in Tennessee, running alongside the Toccoa River. It is the only mainline railroad excursion operating in the state of Georgia.
