Elva MK 7/Porsche - Beautiful and Successful British sports racer 


During the mid-1960s, the British Elva Mark VII rear-engined sports-racing car built a terrific reputation for itself within the medium-capacity road racing class. The 1963 Elva Porsche is powered by a flat four air-cooled Porsche engine with a wheelbase spanning 90 inches and a weight of only 975 pounds. Elva was a sports and racing car manufacturing company based in Bexhill, then Hastings in England.
The Elva-Porsche was a light racing sports car with a Porsche engine from the 1960s.  A request from the US was for a new Mk7 model to be powered by either 1600cc or 2000cc Porsche engines.  Elva produced 69 Mk7s between 1963 and 1965.

The name is a corruption of 'elle va' meaning 'she goes' and, from this very humble start, Elva cars became very successful and popular, 'The Elva-Porsche was a light racing sports car with a Porsche engine from the 1960s.
The Elva Mk 7/Porsche is a rear-engined sports-racing car that was built in the 1960s. The car was based on the Mark VII Elva, but redesigned aft of the front section to take the 1,700 c.c. Porsche air-cooled flat-four engine. The Mk 7 Porsche was so successful that the design, incorporating a tight engine/gearbox unit, disc brakes, and lightweight suspension was able to win the prestigious 1963 Elkhart Lake "Road America" 500 race, in the hands of Augie Pabst and  Bill
