Supermarine Spitfire
British Super Plane
Part of the New "Wings of Dreams" collection of iconic aircraft, this T-Shirt shows the Famous Spitfire Fighter of WWII Fame.
The Supermarine Spitfire is a British single-seat fighter aircraft. It was used by the Royal Air Force and other Allied countries before, during, and after World War II. The Smilingwombat "Wings of Dreams" T-Shirts show the Spitfire as it appeared in the Battle of Britain.
The key aim of British Fighter Command, during the Battle of Britain, was to stop the Luftwaffe's bombers whenever possible. The tactic was to use Supermarine Spitfire to counter German escort fighters, who by then were based in northern France. The Supermarine Spitfire was a particular problem to the German Bf 109s. The Spitfire was very successful in this role and was pivotal in winning the battle.
